death of a radio station

..So on Friday Doug calls me and says he received a disturbing email.
Immediately I get nervous.. He says it's the planet....are ready to hear what it says..?
He reads off this letter...I am in shock..
The Planet has been the best station I've ever heard.. I am saddened by the news...
Here's the letter Doug wrote to the station....

I don't know what data you are looking at to quantify your 'business' decisions, but The Planet 97.3 was one of the, if not the, most listened to and appreciated radio stations in town.
Not for one minute will anyone, listener or not, believe that The Planet was the lowest ranked FM station in town. That is simply not true. It had the best programming, concerts, and on-air personalities on the FM dial. You may have been losing money and for that I am sorry, but don't blame that on poor listenership. No one is buying it. And please don't email me back 'thanking' me for my response. Instead, come forward with the truth for and a apology for disappointing thousands of people.
This decision to 'change formats' just strengthened Kansas City's reputation as an unimaginative, classless, backwards town. Your 'new' format is unfortunately already being done in this market by multiple stations, that just makes this move even more baffling. You go from progressive and original to trailer trash and boring overnight. Have fun getting your butt kicked as the new kid on the mullet rock station block.
I, along with thousands of Kansas Citians will never support Union Broadcasting or their partners ever again. You will regret this huge, huge mistake.
You thought you were losing money before, you aint seen nothing yet ! ! !

Waxy Build-up

A friend sent me this. I thought I knew where it was going...but I didn't.
Laughed out loud--because I can totally relate

All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal - The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair and now...the wax.

My night began as any other normal weeknight.
Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids.
I then had the thought that would ring painfully in
my mind for the next few hours:
"Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet."
So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.
It was one of those "cold wax" kits. No melting a clump of hot wax,
you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and
you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be?
I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. (YA THINK!!)
So I pull one of the thin strips out.
Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. ("Cold wax,"yeah...right)!
I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull. It works! OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad.
I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinary. With my next wax strip I move north.
After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship.
I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure, I apply the was strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my vagina and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (Yes, it was a long strip)

I inhale deeply and brace myself....

Bush: 'I take responsibilty'

I am so glad someone is owning up to the 'deficiences' in our nation....Maybe this will start a radical thing ---People owning up to their mistakes...Starts from the top and trickles down..

President George W. Bush took responsibility on Tuesday for any failures in the federal government's response to Hurricane Katrina that struck two weeks ago and acknowledged the storm exposed deficiencies at all levels of government four years after the September 11 attacks.
Asked if Americans should be concerned their government remains unprepared to respond to another major disaster or a terrorist attack, Bush said: "Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government, and to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."
Speaking at a joint news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Bush said, "I want to know what went right and what went wrong. I want to know how to better cooperate with state and local government to be able to answer that very question that you asked.
"Are we capable of dealing with a severe attack or another severe storm? And that's a very important question and it's in our national interest that we find out exactly what went on so we can better respond," Bush said. The president plunged in the polls after fierce criticism for the government's slow response to the hurricane that ravaged the U.S. Gulf cost when it struck on August 29, killing hundreds and displacing 1 million people in one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history.

if wishes were horses beggars would ride

I am still in shock. I can't believe that something like this happened here in America the "richest country in the world". I wish I could do more than just sit on my hands.. I wish I could make it all go away. I wish I could let the children know that they would be able to go back to their school and be able to play with their friends. I know I can't do any of that . I can pray and ask God to comfort them and allow them to see His goodness even in this mess. I can pray that God guide the folks in charge--that he help them realize the task at hand..

I did come across a very interesting radio interview from Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans take a listen.. It is emotionally charged you can definitely feel the pain of what everyone must be feeling..

sometimes things are black & white

The Associated Press has separately captioned two photos of looters in the wake of Katrina. The photo of a black man refers to his "looting," and the photo of a white pair refers to their "finding."

What do you think?
