..So on Friday Doug calls me and says he received a disturbing email.
Immediately I get nervous.. He says it's the planet....are ready to hear what it says..?
He reads off this letter...I am in shock..
The Planet has been the best station I've ever heard.. I am saddened by the news...
Here's the letter Doug wrote to the station....
I don't know what data you are looking at to quantify your 'business' decisions, but The Planet 97.3 was one of the, if not the, most listened to and appreciated radio stations in town.
Not for one minute will anyone, listener or not, believe that The Planet was the lowest ranked FM station in town. That is simply not true. It had the best programming, concerts, and on-air personalities on the FM dial. You may have been losing money and for that I am sorry, but don't blame that on poor listenership. No one is buying it. And please don't email me back 'thanking' me for my response. Instead, come forward with the truth for and a apology for disappointing thousands of people.
This decision to 'change formats' just strengthened Kansas City's reputation as an unimaginative, classless, backwards town. Your 'new' format is unfortunately already being done in this market by multiple stations, that just makes this move even more baffling. You go from progressive and original to trailer trash and boring overnight. Have fun getting your butt kicked as the new kid on the mullet rock station block.
I, along with thousands of Kansas Citians will never support Union Broadcasting or their partners ever again. You will regret this huge, huge mistake.
You thought you were losing money before, you aint seen nothing yet ! ! !
