Coretta Scott King (1927-2006)

Coretta Scott King, the widow of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr, died in her sleep early Tuesday morning at the age of 78. She had worked tirelessly after her husband’s death in 1968 to carry on his legacy and only recently began to slow down her efforts.

Coretta summed up she and her husband's struggle,"By reaching into and beyond ourselves and tapping the transcendent ethic of love, she shall overcome these evils. Love, truth, and the courage to do what is right should be our own guideposts on this lifelong journey."

Friends like these

I know you have been sitting at home wondering what Monica, Rachael and Phoebe are doing with their hair --well wait no more...Rumor has it that our friends have been in secret talks with NBC exec's for some special episodes airing possibly this year. Courtney Cox-Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry agreed to the massive sum of $6.7 million each to bring Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Ross and Chandler back to life. Jennifer Aniston, who is now a big movie star was the last to agree to the deal. An NBC source spilled the beans saying that Aniston was "the one that has been holding out, but she's now agreed to reprise Rachel Green". Executives are hoping that ratings go through the roof and have also hinted at a second spin-off , following the disappointment of LeBlanc's show Joey. The new show would feature Perry, Schwimmer and LeBlanc in a pilot series called 'It's A Guy Thing'. NBC has not confirmed whether the pilot series will go ahead, instead stating, "negotiations on future projects are going on all the time."

Back to the Future

If you could tell your future self anything what would it be?
I've been thinking about this for a bit and i'm not sure what I could tell myself.
There is a website that allows you to write an email to your future self.. www.futureme.org Years or days..it would be interesting to write an email now and receive 5 years later ..

If you are a voyeur(like me) you can read public entries from others who have gone before us.

So what will you say to yourself?

Fire

So yesterday I was home sick.. Doug walks in at 4pm-- I am puzzled because he usually doesn't get home till 6pm. Well, this was the reason... FIRE

migun

so last week i finally went the Migun Thermal Massage with my friends jordanne and jen(yes i only hang out with people who's name start with "j").they are wild about migun and have been telling me that i need to go --so they kidnapped me from my video editsuite and took me.. The Migun Thermal Massage Bed utilizes a wealth of knowledge by placing both heat and pressure to those points in the body that are connected to certain organs in the body. The treatment uses helium to produce heat and uses jade massage heads to create pressure. This dual form of treatment focuses its attention on the area near and around the spine, the same pressure points that are used in acupuncture and acupressure.(i got that from their site i'm really not that smart)
So it was fun-- so if you are ever in Kansas on Metcalf and 91st by micro center stop in Brenden helped me.. BTW it's free--they want you to try before you buy..

----As many of you know I will NEVER do this--my idea of roughing it is the Econo Lodge but I know there are some folks that actually like this stuff.. I'll never understand .. just passing along the news

didn't we almost have it all??

It's being reported that the freakish, car-crash marriage between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown is about to end in a messy, car-crash divorce. And we know exactly what you're thinking. You're thinking that if Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown divorce, who'll be around to poke their fingers up Whitney's bum and yank out nuggets of constipated poo, aren't you? Anyone? OK, so it was just us...
When they started out, Whitney Houston was the biggest female star on the planet - releasing giant-sounding wedding reception songs that got to number one and stayed there for months and months. And Bobby... well, Bobby was the boy who sung Candy Girl and the theme-tune to Ghostbusters 2. But as years progressed, Bobby and Whitney became more and more of a joke. And what's the best way to deal with a negative public image? Describing how you pull excrement from your wife's arse on your own reality TV show, of course.
Being Bobby Brown was Whitney and Bobby's chance to shine a light on what a lovely, and publicly misconstrued, couple they really were. Shame, then, that the show revolved mainly around Bobby describing how he manually relieved Whitney's constipation. One TV critic went so far as to call the show:"The most disgusting and execrable series ever to ooze its way onto television."But now, after reports that Bobby Brown was seen "flirting with a bevy of beauties backstage at a concert telling them he was no longer with his wife," it looks like a divorce really is in the cards for Whitney and Bobby.
Oh Whitney, didn't you almost have it all? Yours was the greatest love of all. Maybe now you just wanna dance with somebody... else. Hey, where are you going? Come back, we've got a million of these...

Get your cameras ready… This Sunday is your chance to see something a little unusual, a large railroad bridge moving through the streets of Downtown. The event is the relocation of the 1892 Pencoyd railroad bridge from the riverfront to Union Station There it will be used for a pedestrian bridge across the train tracks that separate the station from the Freight House (by lidia's) building and the Crossroads District to the north.
The big move will take place sometime between 5:00 a.m. and Noon on Sunday, when Grand Blvd. will be closed between 3rd and 20th Streets.

i'm back

I just got back from the passion 06 in Nashville or NASHVEGAS(as some folks call it).. It was actually better than I expected (i really wasn't expecting too much). I went with the Gathering.
I was so lucky to share my time with some wonderful people who have blessed me more than they will ever know. I met up with my good friend Christina(shaw)Daniels who just got married and is living in Nashville with her husband Paul.. But the reason we were there was to worship and that is what we did. I learned and re-learned some things..
As a job I work at a church and it is so easy to get jaded about what goes on at church and the purpose of it.. etc.. But I kinda feel renewed and released from some things I felt that I had placed upon myself. One thing that stuck out to me was something that Chris Tomlin had said that one thing he had to get over was that--"it doesn't depend on me--God doesn't NEED me" with or without me He will do what needs to be done. But I need him and my worship is to serve him in whatever I do. That was such a revelation to me --I feel like i've been so self-centered in thinking that if something I need to do it all and if it doesn't get done that it will inhibit the kingdom of God. Now that doesn't mean that I shouldn't do everything with excellence or to the best of my ability(Col.3:13). It's just for me to know that God is in the details and he's already gone before us and knows the outcome and he is in control.

I've posted some pics of the trip at a new flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14294771@N00/show/
(some pics got funky while uploading and some flickr wouldn't let me rotate but they are fun nonetheless)
